Six months free heating with a Halifax mortgage

Halifax is offering £500 towards energy bills for all new mortgage customers this October, as the UK gears up for another cold winter. This offer is available for first-time buyers, home-movers and remortgaging customers who take out a plan between October 4 and November 5.

Halifax estimates that this will cover four to six months’ heating in the average UK house, and the amount is payable on provision of a current utility bill. This comes as great news for British homeowners who will be looking to cut costs during a bitter winter, which will see temperatures fall as low as -20 degrees, according to long-term forecasters Positive Weather Solutions.

Stephen Noakes, commercial director of mortgages at Halifax, said: "There are numerous costs incurred with setting up or running a home and energy bills usually represent a significant chunk of household’s monthly outgoings. Households will be able to save between four and six months' costs by using this offer.”
