Carpets for families

Carpets can often be destroyed from the wear and tear of having children in the home.

It can be expensive to strip the floors and lay new carpet plus it takes time and makes the room uninhabitable while the work is being completed.

But there is a new trend in designer carpet that makes the replacement of old or damaged carpet an easy task.

Carpet tiles which can be placed down, changed and removed at the will of the homeowner are growing in popularity.

The carpet tiles are a good choice for people with children or pets because it is easier to replace one carpet tile then lay a whole new floor down if damage is done.

Pictured is the Esprit Octagon carpet available from Vorwerk’s Floor Sculptures collection.

It is being touted as a way to customise floors and create your own personal design.

The bold moveable carpet tiles come in two interlocking forms, the symmetrical shapes and carpet cross shapes that fit around the outside off the octagons.

The materials used include durable Alcantara, giving the appearance of fine leather, and tufted carpet.

The backing allows the tiles to be moved time and time again and will work on any smooth dust and grease-free surface.

Carpet tiles are a relatively new product on the flooring market, traditionally used in schools and childcare centres.

But now designers have taken the concept to create more stylish tile options allowing homeowners to makeover their floors any time that suits them.
